Meet the Expert
Rain or shine, Rebecca Turner is dedicated to motherhood, nutrition, and fitness. She grew up in Mississippi and is a self-proclaimed twenty-first century Southern Belle on the run. Like a lot of steel magnolias, Rebecca knows expectations are high to balance it all and lead a healthy lifestyle.
As a registered dietitian and certified specialist in sports dietetics (CSSD) with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, Rebecca recognizes that taking on a mission as ambitious as reversing obesity in the south is a marathon, not a sprint. Since graduating the University of Southern Mississippi with both a Bachelor and Master of Science degree in nutrition and food systems, she has extended nutrition education beyond the plate and into the community so that specific needs can be addressed.
As the founder of Runner’s FUEL, she aims to inform and motivate competitive and recreational runners of all ages and fitness levels with creditable and practical nutritional information. Her ambition is to sort fact from fiction and provide a common-sense approach to eating and running well.
In 2012, she was selected Mississippi’s Recognized Young Dietitian of the Year and treasurer of the Mississippi Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (MS-AND). In 2011, Rebecca was appointed state regulator specialist by MS-AND. In 2009, she was nominated for MS-AND’s Most Outstanding Dietetic Intern. Recently, she was recognized for her professional achievements by appearing in the University of Southern Mississippi Alumni Spotlight. Rebecca is an active member of several professional associations, including the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Sports, Cardiovascular and Wellness.
